Errors left and Right on Custom Screens / Tables

We are having a minor emergency here. I returned from vacation to discover that Method has been throwing errors on all of our Estimates (and possibly other screens).

We have customized the estimate line items table to include some additional fields such as margin and unit price. I have not made any changes to this screen for a while, so I'm not sure why it started. The attached screenshot happens whenever you either add an item or update one of the fields. Our employees tell me that this started occuring around friday.

    Hi akoumjian,

I would confirm that the UnitPrice field still exists. You can also try regenerating the table by editing the table where the UnitPrice field exists and clicking Finished Editing Fields.

    What is action number 24?

I just wanted to add a bit more to this. There is a chance that this error was happening before but just not being displayed. We have made some recent changes to Method to better detect errors. By any chance are you updating values based on RecordID? If that's the case you may want to add a Save Section to the Text Change event to ensure that a RecordID is created for the line.

All of the fields still exist, as far as I can tell in the "Edit Table" screen.

Action number 24 is an action that tries to update a field in one of the tables. The action number that causes the error changes, but it is always the first action that tries to update a value in the EstimateLine table.

Editing and saving the EstimateLine table doesn't appear to fix the error.

I have attempted placing a "Save Section" action in various places before and after different places with no positive changes. Do you have any other recommendations?

I think this is the right track, even though I couldn't get save section to work as I hoped. If this was working before the recent backend updates, any more ideas on what can fix this?

    Answer

    Hi akoumjian,

I would have the save section be the first action in the text change event. What you can do to ensure that your action results/RecordID are being assigned/retrieved correctly is to place a Show Message action in the action set and have it display the current value of action results and move the position of that show message action down the action set list as needed to verify that at each point the action results or RecordID have a value. If you are still having issues you can contact me at m.melo@methodintegration.com and we can schedule paid consulting time to address this issue outside the forums.

Re: Errors left and Right on Custom Screens / Tables

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for the suggestions. I will probably troubleshoot this on my own.

We're very glad that Method exists. That being said, we don't think it's right to charge for support in this scenario. Updating the Method webapp has broken our custom screens that we use very frequently, with no warning to us that the changes were coming or how they would affect us. Now I am spending company time to fix this so that we are not at a complete stand still.

    Thank you for your time,

    Alec
