    Restore Default Report

Can I download or restore the original Method Report  Estimate (Custom) from the website, library or through my method account?

I made the mistake of not copying the original before making changes. Now I have messed it up beyond repair.

    Answer

Matt - you just delete the report (you need to go File > Open in the Report Designer, selected it and then click Delete), and then copy the standard estimate screen from the Method Library you should get the report back (it will see it is missing and then add it for you).  Tip: in Step 3 of the Copy/Import don't add any tab links.

If that doesn't do it, we do have a utility that we can run that will restore it for you.

Thanks Paul, that did the trick. Onother question if you don't mind.

When the estimate report is generated with customer data, the report inserts the number "1" in the qty column and "$0.00" in the amount column for rows without item or description data. Is there a way to disable this, so that empty rows are blank?

    Answer

    Matt,

There are 2 main options for this, using scripts or using Formatting Rules. Scripts can be accesed by selecting a field in Report Designer and going to Scripts in the Property Grid (Located at bottom right of the designer by default). Using scripts can get difficult and is a bit advanced but that's where Formatting Rules comes into play. Formatting Rules (Found in the Property Grid as well) are a more simplified way to apply rules to how certain fields are displayed based on certain conditions (Hiding fields if a certain field is blank). If you look at the Estimate (Custom) report it uses the Formatting Rules feature. I would also recommend watching the Report Designer webinars found here.

    Re: Restore Default Report

So I tried out the process from Method_Paul and deleted my mangled estimate template. Tried to copy the Quickbooks_Estimate sceen and that went through but still no resotred default estimate template. So how about that utility, because now instread of an estimate ruined by what seems to be a inconsistent undo function (things that come back from the graveyard are out of place, or just plain different) I have no default estimate.
