Sync Engine Installer Reports Missing Interop QBFC8

I am trying to install the latest sync engine on a newly re-installed Windows Server 2003 with QB Enterprise V11 R6.  Completely fresh install of Win Server 2003 and QB Enterprise V 11.

The Method Sync Engine installer reports missing Interop.QBFC8 Version 8.0.0.87 from the Global Assembly Cache.

The QB Company file still retains the Integration Settings for the Method engine as it was not changed from a previous Server 2003 with QB Ent V11 and Method Listener installation.  The company file is the same although upgraded to release 6.

I have run the QB SDK installer V8 in attempt to get the SDK components installed but no luck.

The Method Sync Engine installer reports missing Interop.QBFC8 Version 8.0.0.87 from the Global Assembly Cache.

I've tried rebooting, made sure QB Enterprise was open or closed, etc.  Same message.

I'm trying to install using a local administrator's account so I don't think I have permissions problem.

    James -

Let's try this.  Otherwise, I think we'll have to leave it for Michael on Monday morning.

    1. Add / Remove Programs, remove QBFC8 if it is already installed.

    2. Add / Remove Programs, remove the Method Integration Engine.

    3. Install QBFC8 individually from here:

    http://www.methodintegration.com/MethodIntegrationEngine/qbfc8/QBFC8_0InstallerV2.exe

    4. Try installing the Method Integration Engine again from here:

Re: Sync Engine Installer Reports Missing Interop QBFC8

    Paul,

Thanks for the tips.  I found QBFC8 in Add/Remove programs, removed it, and re-installed from your link as suggested but I still get the same message when attempting to install the Sync Engine.

The message comes real quick, I suppose the installer is checking for the QB SDK components.

I'll need some more help, or else I'll probably start with the QB forums to look for some SDK install troubleshooting.

But, the latest QB SDK is 10, and Enterprise 11 has opened up a bunch of new ODBC functionality to the QB database.  I wouldn't be surprised if Enterprise 11 R6 needs the SDK 10, but of course that's just wild speculation.

Maybe QB V10 R6 broke something in the SDK 8 installer, or just reports funny to the Sync Installer?

    Cheers,

    James

    Hi James,

Have you installed all the .NET framework on that machine? I have come across this issue before when .NET framework was not installed and updated or when it is corrupt.

You can also refer to page 5 of the Initial Setup Guide HERE

Re: Sync Engine Installer Reports Missing Interop QBFC8

    Hey Michael,

.Net 4 Extended is installed and the 4 Client is installed and all updates have been applied to the machine.

I think maybe rather the problem is that the machine is on the bleeding edge of all updates, rather than behind, but it could be that something didn't take during the build.

QB Enterprise V11 was recently upgraded to R6 and they've added a bunch of functionality to the ODBC connection.  .Net is updated to the latest rev and now the Sync Engine is at the latest rev.  But, the QB SDK is only installed to 8, and the latest Rev from QB is 10, I believe.

Of course if that was the problem, someone else with Ent V11 would also have a problem, although they may not be installing from a fresh install and updrades to the listener, etc. work just fine so it hasn't appeared.

There must be a way to poke around and check to see that the QBFC8 is installed and functioning.  I can also try installing the Sync Engine to a client PC that also has QB Ent V11.

    Hmmm.....

    Michael,

Thanks for all your help, the update did the trick.  I'm now on the bleeding edge of QB and Method releases and plan to stay that way.

    Cheers,
