    Email Trouble

We're having trouble sending email . . . it keeps saying "operation timed out".  And then if we try a different SMTP server it says something like, "user does not have permission to send as this sender".

    Re: Email Trouble

I did, but that didn't fix it.  And I don't think both of our SMTP servers would be causing an error . .  with the SMTP servers from different providers.

What SMTP's are you trying to use? Can you post them or email them to me.

Can you please be more specific? Are you looking for addresses with usernames and passwords or just provider names? The providers are at&t and Microsoft office 365.

I was looking for the server address. For both office 365 and AT&T we have seen port 587 resolve this issue.

    Re: Email Trouble

I wish it was that easy, but I had already been using port 587 on MS Office 365 and using port 587 with AT&T returns a message that says secure connections are not allowed.

@pdirect - does it seem to make a difference of SSL is turned on or off when sending the test message?

    Re: Email Trouble

Office 365 requires SSL (actually TSL).  AT&T didn't like that port because I believe they use SSL, not TSL.  But with AT&T it doesn't seem to matter if it's SSL or not.

    Re: Email Trouble

Can you try port 465 with SSL turned on for smtp.att.yahoo.com and see if that works?  I just did some searching and it looks like that is the ideal port to use with that provider.

The Method application displays the following error when trying to send a test email on 465 with AT&T.

    The operation has timed out.

@pdirect - I'm just checking AT&T's site and it looks like based on their configuration page, the server address is outboud.att.net.  Does that sound right to you?  Check out this page.

Can you try, based on these settings and see if it works?

    Re: Email Trouble

That link you sent didn't work, but I was able to find another page on their site that says the smtp server address should be smtp.att.yahoo.com with port 465 . . . but that still fails to send correctly from the Method application but works with other applications.

The link that Danny posted brings up a page for me. We have another forum user that I know of that uses ATT yahoo I will see if I can get in contact with them and see if they are having similiar issues and if they were able to resolve it.

    Re: Email Trouble

I just clicked on the link again and it returns the following:

"The page you are looking for has moved, been replaced, or is currently unavailable.
    We apologize for the inconvenience."

Also, this happens with Office 365 SMTP as well, so it's not just an AT&T problem.  And besides this was all working fine and then stopped working.  It seems like something happened with our Method install and how it interacts with SMTP.
