    Editing a dropdown field

I created a dropdown field in the customer table called "CustomerCategory" with four options to chose from.

How do I go back and add a fifht option to the dropdown list?

    Marcelo,

When you create a dropdown field Method will automatically create a screen and a table for this field. To find this screen go to the Customize tab and click the Screens tab link. Hover your curser over the appropriate screen (likely called "CustomerCategory") and click View. From this popup screen you can add/edit options of your new dropdown list.

Note: Make sure you are not currently editing any tables in the Tables/Fields tab link. If so click Finished Editing Fields before you add to your dropdown table.

Is there a way to change the order in which they appear in the list?

Also, I deleted one of the new screen from one of the new dropdown fields, I did not know what it was.

Will I have to delete the dropdown field and create it again to fix this??

    Re: Editing a dropdown field

    Marcelo,

The dropdown options are displayed in chronological order of when they were created. The only way to change this is to delete and recreate them. If you have added this dropdown field to any screens you should delete these fields from the screens before you delete the field in the table.

In regards to the screen you deleted, first take note of your custom tables and then search for the screens with those exact names in the Customize > Screens tab link. If you cannot find one then it must be the one that you deleted. You can recreate it by basing the new screen off this table. Add a grid object, along with the fields/buttons and actions (i.e. Save All Sections, Delete Active Record, Clear Screen For New Entry, etc.) that you require.

    Re: Editing a dropdown field

The screen I deleted was not created by me, I do not need it. It was created automatically when I added a dropdown filed to the customer table.

I just did not know that I was going to need it to edit the field in the future, do I still have to follow all the steps the you especified before?

Yes. If you deleted the screen that was created automatically with your dropdown table and you think that you may need to edit or add to the dropdown choices in the future I would suggest recreating the screen like I mentioned above.

    Re: Editing a dropdown field

    Ok thanks.

Just want to make sure that I am doing this right.

So every time I create a new field in the customer table, a new screen will be automatically created?

    Answer

    Not a problem! :)

A new screen and table will automatically be created only for a new dropdown field typeOther field types such as text or decimal will not.
