Error message when installing Method on new computer

    Error message when installing Method on new computer

    I just purchased a new 64bit computer system with windows 7 home premium. Installed Enterprise 10 and QB Premier 2010 as I use both for clients. After installing the method integration engine, an error window pops up with the following error:

    "methodintegrationQB.exe-no disk. There is no disk in the drive. Please indsert a dist into drive  \device\harddisk1\dr1" I have the option to Cancel, Try Again, or Continue. This error pops up every few minutes as long as my QuickBooks is open.

    Has anyone else had this issue? Suggestions on how to fix? Thanks!

    Good Morning Kathy,

    The first thing that I would check seeing as it is a new computer is that all the latest Windows Updates are installed.  Speaking from experience, I have a new 64bit Windows 7 laptop and that was the very first thing I did.  The second thing I wanted to ask you is if perhaps you have any removable drives that were removed from the computer?  Based on those errors, it is almost as if it is looking for a drive that was removed.

    Hi Method Community Members,

    Kathy ended up resolving this issue with us over the phone.  For everyones reference though it turns out that Kathy was trying to install Method through Firefox instead of IE.  This is totally fine however Firefox doesn't allow ClickOnce apps to be installed by default.  ClickOnce apps are a quicker way of installing applications and Method takes advantage of that.  Problem is that Firefox out of the box doeesn't support a ClickOnce install.  So you can either do the install through IE or installed the FireFox plugin I've included below.

     I have the same error message but I am running IE 8.0.6001 on Vista Home premium SP2. I recall that  I had a simular issue when I was on the support side of things (i.e. I wrote the click-once app) and we ended up having to publish a new version to resolve the issue. Do you have a general resolution to this install issue?

    Thanks for the post. I've been trying to get thru Method to get this account installed to no avail. Is it safe to assume the technical support number is: 1-888-925-6238 ?

    Not to beat a dead horse but are you saying that userswith Vista 64 bit always requires technical support?

    Yes, that is the correct number to contact our team. Please keep in mind our business hours are 9AM - 6PM Eastern Time.

    No, having a 64 bit machines does not mean you require technical support. We have a few 64 bit machines in the office that had no issues.

    I have a trial account that is facing this error and I have tried the the Method CRM Help Center solution no. 343 and Danny's ideas above without success.

    I hear you about contacting support, but these people are losing days off their trial - what can be done?

    Hello,
        The quickest way to resolve the issue would be to contact the support line.  We can take a look and help the customer resolve the issue.  The difficulty with the problem is that it involves the customers computer and settings in Windows.  We are still at 1-888-925-6238 x2.
