User permissions to assign new cases only to a small list of users

    User permissions to assign new cases only to a small list of users

    I would like to be able to restrict one group of users to only assign new cases with one status type and one request type (already defaulted) to another smaller group of users? How do I accomplish this? I also want to take away this groups ability to edit cases.

    Ex: sales_reps would assign new unapproved tickets to my customer service reps adding attachments and text. My customer service reps would be able to approve and edit the cases and setup activities based on this case.

    Hi Dfreye,

    To restrict one group of users to these basic functions, I would first create a User Role for that, and remove all of the other tabs/screens from this role. More information on this can be found here: http://www.method.me/cs/forums/t/3664.aspx.

    Then you could either modify an existing screen to disable some features for this role, or create a new screen for this. These new/modified screens could be the only ones available for these roles.
