    Sales order in Method?

When I try to crreate and save a Sales Order in Method, I get this error:

This record could not be saved. The version of your accounting software does not support new records on this list or transaction from 3rd party software. Try creating the record directly in your accounting software instead.

    Additional Information

    Action Sequence Order:3

    Any insight on that?

    Thanks!

    Hello industrialrobotix,

Try regenerating the tables.  Go to Customize -> Tables / Fields. Click on the SalesOrder table.  Click Finish Editing Fields.  Go back and save the Sales Order.  Does this work?  If not, go back and try it for the salesorderline and salesorder table.  You can also try regenerating related tables such as customer.

If the problem persists after, give Method support a call on 1-888-925-6238 x2.  Take note that Sales Orders are not available for the QuickBooks Online Method accounts.

Thanks.  None of those seemed to work.  I'll call support on Monday and talk to them.

ETA - I am using Quickbooks Desktop 2012....  Could it be related to the release version?  I was going to wait until 2015 came out to "upgrade".

    Hello industrialrobotix,

I don't think it is related to the release version.  The error is generic in nature and could mean a couple of things.  It's hard to diagnose without taking a closer look.

    Re: Sales order in Method?

I think I got it to work by updating fields....so it saves now.

However - is it possible to email Sales Orders in the same fashion I can email invoices and estimates?  There is a check box for "to be emailed" but no "Save & Email" button.  I looked at the button in the Customize Screens for the Estimates, and there are a whole bunch of actions associated with it.  Is there a simple way to copy that over to the "Save & Email" button I'd like to add to Sales Orders, or does it all have to be manually entered?

    Hello industrialrobotix,

The field 'to be emailed' on the Sales Order screen is actually the email option for the QuickBooks side.  It is the same field in the invoices screen that is labelled 'To be emailed in QuickBooks?'.  You would have to do some customization to add the email function to the Sales Order screen.   You can see it on the invoice screen. in the screen designer.  Below is a screenshot.  Step 19 is the check for the to be emailed field and Step 20 starts the loop to find each customer that has opted in for a billing transaction email.  There are many actions, but you can do a simplier version if it meets your needs.

    Re: Sales order in Method?

Ok I made some headway and got the save and email button working on Sales Orders screen.  Only issue I am having is that whith the portal url.  I am not sure what fields to use to bring the customer to the actual Sales Order transaction.  I copied most of the button actions from Invoice and Estimates.  The customer can log in to the portal but they get this message:

The record you are trying to load does not exist, or you do not have permission to view it.

However if you click on "Goto" right next to the Sales order it will show the PDF....so I think I am doing something incorrectly w/ the portal URL

Here is what I have currently...seems to be the same for both Invoice and Estimate...would that also hold true for Sales Order?

    Hello industrialrobotix,

It may be one of the action results that is not set correctly.  You will have to find where they are set and see if they are being generated correctly.  Also, compare the URL you receive from the email (what's in the URL bar when you get the error?) and the URL when you open the transaction.   What is the difference?  I would not post the URL in the forums.  If you like, you can email me them to my email below and I can take a quick look.
