    Change in Master Administrator

The Administrator who set up our account has left the company and I have read that I can change the user name to another individual and that doing so will transfer all of the old administrators activities to the new administrator--i.e. from Ted (original admin) to Bill (new admin).

My question is whether this is a global switch of names.  i.e does Bill's name now replace Ted in all fields and as such do I lose the historic data of being able to identify the work that Ted did in the past?

    Hi Flyfisher

Yes, you are correct changing the master admin's username will transfer all of the old admin's activities to the new username. This Help Centre article describes the master admin user and changing it.

As for your question, unfortunately when you update the master admin's username it is changed globally. There are a couple of things you could do to continue having a record of what changes were made under Ted's time:

    - Firstly, before changing the master admin's username you can export the Audit Trail via Customize > Integration Tools > Import/Export. Untick the box for 'Show only common tables?' and you can export this to CSV or XML. This would allow you to keep a historic record of which transactions were done by whom. Please note this can be a very large table and not all changes will be exported.
    - Secondly you can export the Activity table using the same method as above and keep track of when you change the master admin. This table is much smaller and provides a lot of detail like the LastModifiedDate and LastModifiedBy.

What type of work are you trying to keep track of? There may also be other ways to get the information you are after.

If you wish to change the master admin user and they are no longer around please send us a letter from your company on the company’s letterhead confirming that you need access to the admin account. We do this for security purposes as we don’t want to give access to your account to someone who your company has not approved. You may email your letter tosupport@methodintegration.com or fax it to 416-640-6027
Let me know if you have any further questions.
