Report Designer - publish into XLS

When I design a new report that needs to be printed into XLS, it always creates an extra column after each existing column. So it looks something like this: https://goo.gl/JDkqcU

It is annoying and I would like to ask for help how to prevent it. All my fields are alligned and are not overlaping.

    Thank you!

    Hi ItfromValor,

I have seen this when sending a report from QB to XLS. (in this case go to adanced options and uncheck "space between columns").  But I have not seen this behavior in generating a Method report with the report designer.

I agree it is most annoying, cause once in Excel you can't do a thing with the data.

    Hey ITFromValor,

In order to have no extra columns or rows you will need to play around with the spacing around the fields and also the main detail body.

Here I used a table to list my data but note the space around each row. If you leave any white space in the detail space then it will create new rows in Excel as shown.

If you use separate labels then you will have to make sure they are large enough to fit the text so that it doesn't word-wrap onto a new row and have no space beside the neighbouring label so that it doesn't create a new column in Excel. Thats we recommend to use a table so that the spacing is more automatic.

What you want in the end should look like the images below which will export to excel properly.

    For seperate labels:

    Hi!

Thank you both. I actually figured it out - there cannot be any pixels in between the fields and then it looks perfect in Excel. All I had to do is get the info about each field and make sure one field starts where the other one ends.

    Thanks!
