    previous version of a table

Do you have access to a previous version of a one of my tables?  I damaged the item description field in my "ActivityJobItems" table about 1:30 today.  I you have access to a version of that table from prior to 1:30 today I would be very happy.  Please let me know asap.

    Thank you

    Maureen

    Hi Maureen,

Unfortunately we dont have access to a 'previous version' of a specific table per se, but we Do have access to Backups of your entire Method database. Unfortuantely we cant just restore specific tables/fields by restoring the backup however, and the whole process would likely need the involvement of one of our Professional Services team, as the restore can be quite complicated.

How many records do you estimate you lost in your ActivityJobItems Table? I would strongly suggest you reach out to your Account Manager and have them walk you through the next steps of a potential restoration process. If you are not sure who your Account manager is, please feel free to email me directly <b.hargreaves@method.me> and I can forward you their email address and loop them into the conversation.

    Thanks Maureen.

    Regards,

    Ben

Re: previous version of a table

Thanks Ben.  I lost some notes and job item descriptions on work orders.  I spent time this weekend fixing most of the problem and the remaining is all on old work orders that have already been invoiced, so I am not going to worry about that.   I will sometime in the future schedule an appointment with a customizer to discuss/review what exactly I did that caused the issue.

Is there a way for me to back up information myself?  I do plan that if I am customizing again, I will export any tables I am working with before I make changes Smile.

    Thanks again,

    Maureen

Re: previous version of a table

    Hi Maureen,

There isnt a way to take a full backup of your own account unfortuantely, but exporting any potentially affected tables is certainly a good idea if you plan on doing anything that might Delete information from Method. As a general rule of thumb, outright deletion of information (especially using customization to mass delete) is rarely the best course of action and should definitely be treated with great care. Any deletion that goes on within the stock screens has fairly strict validation to ensure you arent doing something irreverisble, but creating your own screens may not have the same validation checks in place.

If you were customizing anything that could affect QuickBooks syncing information (as opposed to CRM specific information) I would also suggest that you take a full backup of your quickbooks file prior to making any changes.

    Thanks Maureen.

    Regards,

    Ben
