Hi Bill,
Do you mind telling me the steps you're taking in Method to get to that report? It sounds like its a custom report? The only other time I've seen this (I think) is if there is some report object that goes beyond the report margins.
In the meantime, I'm going to try this in a couple of my accounts as well.

When you save do you get a banner across the top of the screen with this message? If so, it's because there is an action on the Save button (Conditional Warning) that checks to make sure there is a value selected for AssignedTo. If it's a custom screen you should be able to ...

I hear you on this one…but I don't believe this is an option at the moment. When users take advantage of SQL grid overrides they have to keep in mind that the values they see are 'display data' only. The filters work by comparing the actual data in the fields to your query.
