Customer calls and askes when was the last time you came to my house to look at the traps? This is the flow i would do:
Schedual/Invoices>Customers>Enter name of customer in the list>Pick the customer>Activities and Work Orders Tab>Filter by view.

You can set the number of rows from the grid setting. But this feature of more rows or fewer rows has not yet been implemented. I will put in a feature request for future development.

The HTML editor font size should be larger when editing a larger field such as a solution.

Grids do not have option to show More Rows or Fewer Rows like in Classic.
Is this on the development list?

As I work with the designer there is an area that I think is a bit counter productive.
On a section you check a box to show header/title bar
On a grid you check the box to hide the caption.
It would be nice if these would be the same.

I have tested it on my account and it seems to be working fine. I did exactly as you mentioned in your post. I added a new grid view filter Today and enter the value as you mentioned and it gave me the desired result. Even with the date picker it gave me the right value. Try to log out and log back in again and see if the problem ...
