Placing fields in the customizing screen

I am unable to drag and drop new fields & objects onto a screen that I am trying to customize.  Could I be maxed out on space?

Do you happen to be using Chrome? We came across an issue where dragging fields was not working as it should when customizing screens in certain situations, using IE or Firefox should get you around this issue while our dev.team works to resolve this.

If you are not using Chrome can you give us some more details?

    • What browser are you using?
    • Does this happen with all objects?
    • Can you edit or move existing objects?
    • Does this happen across all screens you are trying to customize or just some of them?

Yes, I was using Chrome.  Firefox is better.

I am now using firefox and when I start to add an action to a button the entire customizing screen greys-out and freezes.  I have to sign out of Method to get out of it.  What's going on?

Has this issue with Chrome been resolved?  I have done a ton of customizing in Chrome with minimal problems until today.  Suddenly, I cannot drag and drop fields.

    Hi Meghan,

According to the link Michael supplied in one of the above posts, this issue has been resolved.  We have noticed some cache issues from time to time with Chrome, if you have already tried signing out of Method, and closing/opening your browser again and that didn't work, you might try clearing your browsers cache.  This can be down in Chrome by going to Settings->Advanced Settings, scroll down to Privacy and use the "Clear Browsing Data..." button to clear your cache (make sure to choose "the beginning of time" option).

If clearing the cache doesn't work for you solve this issue for you in Chrome, please also try using Firefox or Internet Explorer and see if it works there.  Please let us know either way if this helps you resolve your issue, we haven't seen this issue for a while it seems, so we can look into it further depending on your results.

Is there any update on this, or has the issue perhaps resurfaced?

I had issues today trying to drag and drop fields in Chrome.  Can you guys maybe do browser agent detection, and push some kind of notice about what might not work?

    Thanks for any updates.

    Best,

    Ken

This is still an issue for me.  Works fine in Firefox (I refuse to use IE).  But it's a pain because I don't use FF for anything else.  Chrome is the most widely used non-mobile browser in the world.  It would be great for the drag and drop to work with Chrome.

    Hi Meghan/Ken,

This has not been resolved as of yet, please keep in mind that this issue was fixed for a long while, it only resurfaced again in the last couple of weeks.  Our development team is aware of this issue and they are working on a fix, I will make sure to post in this thread with any updates.  In the mean time, Ken, please use Firefox for editing Method Screens until this gets resolved, our apologizies for any inconvenience this causes.

    Hey Ben,

I hope that it's not out of line, and apologies in advance....but it would be great if you guys did cross-browser testing and, preferably made it work, but, alternatively, popped some kind of notice when an attempted action is unsupported?

Some could interpret the current situation as lack of care by Method...possibly...

Re: Placing fields in the customizing screen

    Hi Ken,

I assure you we do as much multi-browser testing as we can, sometimes issues just come up unexpectedly.  As I said above, this issue was fixed in the past, something recent seems to have caused it to show up again.  Please also keep in mind that this doesn't happen with every user that uses IE or Chrome, only a very small portion.  Recently, we have only been informed with this happening with about 5 users now (to date), compared to the thousands that are using Method design screens.  I did have this issue show up in my own test account, but it also disappeared just as quickly, making it difficult for us to pinpoint where it is coming from.

Understand that if this were a User wide issue that were to show up in Method, we would definitely let our Customers know about it and that we are looking into it.  The issue being discussed in this forum thread only affects a small few, so we require feedback from these instances to determine the root of the problem.  I am not saying it isn't important and that we don't intend on fixing it, I am just saying we wouldn't send a message to all users about this issue, when it is only affecting a small small portion of our users.

Ken, I will say you are definitely not out of line with your suggestions/requests here, we always welcome feedback and do our best to accomodate for all our users.
