    Limiting a user access

I am trying to set up a user to be able to see only his work orders but all customers. When I set his account permissions to share all records he is able to see all cutomers but also others work orders. When I uncheck the share all records then he is very limited on what customers he has access to.

How are customers assigned to users? Even as an administrator when I filter customers to MY Customers I don't have any but I can filter to All Customers and see all of them.

    Hi Rozetta,

    Thanks for posting!

The workflow you are describing is certainly possible - but would require a bit of customization to function correctly.

The fastest way would be to copy the Work Order list screen, and remove all the 'Shared' filters from the list grid - thus leaving you with only the 'My' filters. Although this isnt a particularly robust option, and would prevent everyone from being able to see shared work orders, not just this user.

Alternatively, you could create a copy of the Work Order list screen with 2 grids - one with Shared / My filters (for admins / powerusers), and a second grid which only has the 'My' filters. The displaying of one grid or the other could be handled onScreenLoad using a Show/Hide Field / Object action to display one grid and hide the other depending on who was logged in.

If you would like a hand setting any of this up, please feel free to reach out at success@method.me or via our in-product chat (Method New only), and reference this forum post.

    Thanks!
