    Contact Portal Login Setting

    I just tried the contact portal with shortern url, but I got ask to enter user name and password, but I saw that in the webinar, it can be instead by just email address. I was wondering how to change the setting that customer can login by just email address without register a new user name and passsword. thx

    Hi Ian,

    Did you try logging in to the portal using the Short URL link (http://MIurl.cc/xxxxxx) that is provided in the email that is sent when saving an estimate/invoice or did you try logging in directly into the portal? To be able to only enter the email address like it is displayed in the webinar you have to use the link that is found in the email. The reason being is that the user is authenticated based on the unique URL and their email address, if it was just the email it wouldn't be very secure (If I knew your email address I could just enter it and login as you).

    Hi Michael,

    I try to logging in the portal using short url link, but it is same page as logging in directly into the portal.

     Ian,

    Are you using the default screens or did you do any customization? If you are using the default screens can you email me the link you are using(Method short URL) and the email associated with it so I can test it? Or if you can add my email m.melo@methodintegration.com to a dummy customer and send out  a dummy email to me

     Hi Ian,

    Which screen did you use to send this email from? Was that screen customized? If it was it looks like the CustomerRecordID may not be set in the Create Short Method URL action.

    Oh, I see, that is why. oh ok, should i retrive the customer record id from customer table or just using the sales order screen id.

    Thanks a lot for help, Michael, it works great. I just have one more question, how to set the expire date, if i want to limit the access time for customer.

    Ian,

    The best way to do this would be to assign the current date / time from session to an action result and then use the Date Add action to add let's say 7 days to the value of that action result and then set that action result for the Expiry Date in the Create Short Method URL action

    Hi Michael,

    I tested the expiry date option. I setted it 2 days, but after 2 days when I click the link, the link still can link to contact portal. is there anyway to make the link compeletely expired like "wrong url or link is not valid"?

    Hi Michael,

    I did another test, it still not working. then i try to assign the current time and using date add then enter value into a textbox for test. i found the format shows like "3/22/2011 10:16:00 AM" is that possible because expire option does not recognized the format.
