I received a question from David who asked:
"I am doing some work for a landscaping company and we want to import our employees timesheet information from excel into quickbooks. We will need to allocate what amount of time an employee spends on several different tasks and whether or not those items will be billable or unbillable. Do you have a solution for this?"
In order to import any information from an outside program, such as Excel, into Method, you need to use the Method API. The Method API is a way for programmers to communicate with Method from outside. Lucky for you, we have a sample app that we created for developers that imports information from Excel into Method. To download the app, click the link below.
You will need a Method account in order to use the Excel importer. Follow the instructions on the first page of the sheet. As a hint, be sure that each of your columns has a proper field name mapped to the name of the field in your database. In your case, you will be using the Timetracking table in Method. After that, copy and paste all your records into the Excel sheet, making sure they match up with the column headings. You will then be able to import this data right into Method.
