When creating a new Activity, I found that the Subject Merge was not working for the Email Template. When I looked at the field change function I found the logic missing for any Subject merging, only email body was there. I have fixed it for my instance by duplicating and modifying the Email Body merge character functions, but i wanted to report this as even your default templates expect to use the subject merge so it should have already been there.
