    Tab Link Errors

    Hello,

     

    I am experiencing the following error message on my Lead List screen when I click + New Lead (this is the default Lead screen)

    ----------

    Could not run the 'Go To Tab Link' command, as there was a problem locating the Tab Link 'New Lead'. This Tab Link may have been deleted, or if you copied the original Screen from another account, you may also need to copy the Screen this Tab Link 'New Lead' belongs to as well.

    Additional Information

    Action Sequence Order:1

    Please advise as this and other error messages are driving me crazy.

    Hi Nathan,

    I just tried this out on a couple of accounts and wasn't able to get the same error message that you received.  Here are a couple of things to check:

     

    1. Click Customize > Tabs.
    2. Scroll down to the Leads tab and click Edit tab links on the right.
    3. When the Tab Links for Leads windows appears, look at the 3rd row for "New Lead" tab link.  Be sure that CRMQBO_NewLead is selected.
    4. Click Finished Editing Tab Links.
    Be sure to refresh the tab or click F5.  
    If that doesn't work, please enable Method Support in your account and we can take a look at it.

    Thank you for the quick reply.  I tried what you suggested, but the issue still remains.  I have enabled the support on my account.

    Nathan,

    One last thing I thought of before looking at your account.  Have you changed the name of the tabs?  For example, changing the "Leads" tab to "My Leads"?  If so, this could very well break the link that is setup in the actions for the button you're clicking on.  Check to make sure that your tab is still labelled "Leads".  

    If you want to change your tab name, you can, however, you'll need to also update the actions in the "New Lead" button to point to the new location.

    If that still doesn't fix it, I'll look into your account as see what it could be.  Be careful when editing exisiting tabs and tab links as some screens look at the tab names in order to perform certain actions.

    Good Morning Nathan,

    This morning I logged in via Method Support and confirmed that the tab names have been changed in your account.  As a result, if the actions are trying to go to to the Leads > New Lead tab link, it is unable to find it.  This is because the new location is now TGO Leads > New Lead.  If you'd like to keep it like this, you can but you'll need to update the actions for the New Lead button that was giving you the error and point it to the new location.

    My advice - any of the standard tabs used for the CRM, I wouldn't change the tab names.  Why?  Several of the screens use actions to call previous locations or load default values on the screen based upon the name of the tab.  By changing the tab name, we actions that were referring to that name can no longer process as they normally would.

    Thank you for figuring that out.  Now I need a list of what the standard Tab names should be so I can change them back.  Please let me know where I can find out exactly what they should be.
