    Merging with Microsoft for letters

Is there a way to generate a Microsoft Word document using Customer fields from Method?

I need to generate printed letters with our logo, etc. for certain customers using templates I created long ago in Word.

    Thanks,
    Fred

One option is to create a grid with the fields you want to use and then export the grid to excel. That should allow you to mail erge in Word. It also gives you the ability to filter the grid to only have the desired customers.

    Fred-

Matt's suggestion should work, another option could be to move the word document contents into our report designer and use that.

Thank's Michael.  I'll look at the report designer.

With Matt's suggestion, I was starting to wonder if Rube Goldberg was on your design team.  At least there were no rolling steel balls going down a ramp tripping a lever that drops the cage onto the wodden block, etc. Smile

Now I have a real bonehead question - accessing my Report Designer.

I got all excited about using it to generate letters from existing templates, then I was stopped cold after I tried to create a report and filled in the log-in information then clicked on "Connect" and got the error message: "Cannot connect to the database."

I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong, but being new to this I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

    Help!  Please!

    Thanks,
    Fred

    Fred-

This normally comes up when the Account Name is typed incorrectly. Can you verify again that it is correct? If it is enable the MethodSupport user and email me your account name so I can try aswell.

     You nailed it Michael!

I jumped the gun and entered in my new report name instead of my Account Name.
