    problems importing contact

Hi, I'm having trouble importing contacts and relating them to the appropriate leads/customers.

I imported a test file and plugged in the corresponding entityrecordid and entity_recordid numbers.  I can't see the contacts anywhere in method.  However, I just did an export of all my contacts and they appear on the csv file.   Other imports attempts I've tried that don't show up even on the csv export after having supposedly imported "successfully".

What am I doing wrong?  I started with an export so that I would have a template but can't seem to get things working correctly.  Please help.

The field that links a contact to a Customer/Lead (Also known as an entity) is the Entity drop down.

Make sure you have a value for Entity for all your contacts which should be the value of the FullName field for the customer you are trying to link the contact to.

    Re: problems importing contact

Thank you. I exported a contact list and used the exact export to re-import having changed only the first and last name. This way and I can see if this test contact will associated with the right customer/lead.  Entity, of course, matches the Entity I'm trying to add a contact to.  Other irrelevant fields were marked as "do not import".  Here is the error message I got:

Error:We couldn't update current record because we couldn't find a single unique parameter that will match your update criteria.

Nevermind, I tried something different and got it to work.  I think I'm figuring this out.

What are the key fields for opportunities and activites? I want to associate them with contacts--whether they be leads or customers.

    Activities: Contacts and Entitiy
    Opportunities: Contacts and Customer

You will also have to make sure you have a value for all the required fields. The best way to do this is to view the table and look for all the fields that have required checked (Customize > Tables / Fields

i can import info into the contactname field just fine but that doens't associate the opportunity with the right contact.  when i use the contacts field i get the following error:

ERROR:Value 'Aaron Lombardo', which you tried to insert into column 'Contacts' of type Integer could not be interpreted as an Integer.

The Contacts field is actually looking for the RecordID of the Contact not the name.
