    work order item description not showing

    Greetings

    I just enterd a few items in qbo. Did a full sync, then went into method work orders, added a item but the discription dosent get filled in. 

    October version and stock screens. I forgot to metion that everything im doing is in october version except the job costing issue

    Hi John,

    I'm unable to replicate this issue using neither the October nor Novermber versions of Method. What screen are you selecting the new item on, and is it a stock screen?

    1. Added new items in QBO then selected them on an Invoice
    2. Selected newly added QBO items on a Work Order in Method (after a Full Sync)

    ok i found some interesting things out..

    When you create a item in quickbooks online and its not a inventory item...method will not fill in the item discription field

    Wehn you create a item in quickboosk online and its is a inventory item, method will then fill in the discription field.

    I created a item that i was  not going to sell, so that alone was the reason.  

    So method works.

    What Income Account did you select when the description didn't show up? I'm still unable to replicate it and I've selected several different non-inventory types.

    This is what i did

    Quickbooks Online PlusCompany>More> List>products and service list> 

    Name: Echo Blower

    is sub product/Service is not checked

    Track quantity on hand (for inventory item) is not checked

    Sales Information is not checked

    Purchasing information is checked

    Discription: echo power blower

    Cost: 0.00

    Expense Account: Repairs and Maintenance

    Maybe i should not be using this to keep track of my maintenance of my equipment?

    It may be due to your version of QBO, I'm testing this on a QuickBooks Online Essentials account. Are you using the stock Word Orders screen? If so, email me your contact information and let me know when I can get in touch with you for a screen sharing session.

    Apologies John, just realised I was using the Sales Information section when adding the new item. You were correct when you stated that the description does not display for products/services that you purchase. This is not an issue, rather a platform limitation.

    Let me add to my last point, this is a stock screen setting. You can customize the screen to show the Purchase Description if the Sales Description is blank. However if you were to add an item with Sales and Purchase information then the Sales information would show by default, or the Purchase Description, depending on whether you changed the grid's default action properties or not. The Sales Information description is shown by default because it's usually more important since you invoice Work Order's to customers vs to your company. The Item Description field is editable as well so you'll be able to manually type in the info if you don't want/need to customize the screen.
