    paying bills

I don't see a feature in Method allowing a customer to pay bills. Am I missing it?

I see where they can enter bills. However, when they write a check, there is no tie to the bill screen.

Which means, when they write a check to pay a bill, since they aren't showing the bill as paid in Method, their accounts payable report will show the bill unpaid when it actually has been paid.

Any ideas on how to get bills to show as paid under the vendor center?

    Thanks much!!

     Hey Phillip,

    Currently in Method, a pay bills screen does not exist. A screen could be built to do this, but it would be a decent sized customization. The tables you should use to create this screen are;

    BillPaymentCheck, BillPaymentCheckAppliedToTxn

Writing Checks is not the same thing as paying bills in QuickBooks.  In QuickBooks the writing of a “Check” is the equivalent of a Bill and BillPayment put together.

When you pay bills directly with QuickBooks, all the bills will get updated and show a balance if one exists.

    Ryan,

When I use these two tables, I'm not able to get the amount to write back to QB. Any ideas what may be preventing the amount from going back over? I have the amount field on the screen but it is grayed out and won't accept any data.

    Thanks!!

Any update on this? I have a project pending on this screen. It'll have to be closed out and money refunded if we can't get it up and running. We're already two weeks late because of this. So I'm pretty much out of time.

    Thanks!!

    Hey Phillip,

We took a bit of time to get to the bottom of this one, but yes I can confirm this can be done in method. To do it just like QuickBooks, it is a very advanced screen, and we are working on getting it created for our users as soon as we can.  Once we have that, we can send you a copy of it to work from.  We hope to have something very shortly.
We created a functional test one yesterday ourselves.  It was very simple but it worked fine.

    1. We created a screen based off of the BillPaymentCheck table.
    2. We put a detached grid on the screen, based on the Bills table.
    3. We dragged the required fields onto the screen, and put a button on there.
    4. The button first saves the screen.  Then gets the active recordID from Value From Session into an action result.  Then it loops through the grid for checked rows and for each row, inserts a record into the billpaymentcheckapppliedtotxn table. Finally, it then saves the screen again to commit the BillPaymentCheck to QuickBooks.

The amount being paid is equal to the balance of the bill. This is displayed in that grayed out amount box.  It works as a sample situation, just a little clunky.  It only works if you have only checked one Bill in the grid and that Bill matches the Vendor selected in the screen for the BillPayment.

If you are stuck, doing what I mentioned above, if you active the MethodSupport I can log in and import the quick screen that we made to test this out.

    Ryan,

I'm running into some confusion on step 4. The save all sections I understand. When I try to have it loop through the grid, the only grid I can set it to loop through is the bill paymentcheck table.

Would you mind importing the screen. The Method account user is activated on the AnchorTaxPlusLLC account.

    thanks!!

    Ryan,

Your previous post said you would be willing to submit the test screen that you guys used if I ran into trouble. Thanks for being willing to do that.

     Hey Phillip,

We did say that and we are going to honor that, under normal circumstances this would require 1 on 1 consulting time. Honoring our last post you will find our test screen under your vendor center tab.

    That should help.

    Re: paying bills

    Ryan,

For some reason the screen is throwing the transaction into the non-posted transaction list. When I look at that list (non-posted transactions) the amount is not showing up on the transactions still. So the data is not going over to QB.

     Hey Phillip,

I think this is a problem caused by the copying of the screen, I am looking into this and will update you tomorrow.
