Customized invoice template

    Customized invoice template

    I have been working on a customized invoice template, and have done pretty well so far, but what's got me stumped is that when I preview the invoice in Method (from the invoice screen), the first item in the invoice line item grid is printing 3 times (I assume because there are three items on this invoice), and the other two items are not printing at all.  Additionally there are alot of spaces in between each line item.  What have I messed up?

    Hey kdellaripa,

    Did you create the custom invoice template in QuickBooks or through the Method Report Designer? If It's the latter then open your report and check the properties of each of the line item fields, i.e. item type, description, quantity, etc. You want to make sure that the padding or border is not set to a crazy number which would affect the spacing, you should also check whether the field can grow and shrink, especially if it's multiline you would want it to be able to shrink. Don't forget the height and width of the fields as well.

    Thanks Ashur,

    I actually figured out the spacing, what I can't figure out , and is the bigger problem, is why it's repeating the same item row from the line item table, rather then listing each line item that is on the invoice.

    I have created this template in Report Designer.

    When you open your report, look at the Field List section, usually on the right side of the screen, and ensure you're using fields from the correct detail table. You want to use the fields from the InvoiceLine table and drag them to the Detail section of the report. Example below.

    + Invoice
    + InvoiceLine <---- Expand me

    + Company
    + Invoice
    + InvoiceLine
      -Rate <---- Use me
      -Qty
      -Field 3
      -Field 4

    Yes, I figured that out right before I got your reply! :)

    Now my next issue - somehow, my Group Header1 and Group Header2 switched places and I can't get them back.  I didn't switch them, and have no idea how they could've switched, but they did.  I'm not getting the option to move them up or down - it's greyed out.  How can I fix this?  I did alot of customization in these areas and didn't notice until after I had most recently saved the template :(

    All you need to do is right click on GroupHeader1 in the deigner screen and select Move Up Big Smile

    That option is grayed out - that's why I asked the question.  Why would the option be grayed out??
