custom field job # not saving when creating a new customer.

I created a custom field job # which automatically populates the record id as the job #. When I create a new customer the job number populates, however, when I save it, and click on the job in the customer list all the info except the job # is saved, and reflects in the edit customer screen. If I re-enter the job # in the edit customer screen it saves it but I have to click on save each time I go into a customer even though its been saved previously it disappears if save isnt clicked on every time Im in the screen.

    Answer

    Hi dottie,

What Record ID is being populated in the custom field job #, is it the Customer Record ID or the Job of Customer Record ID? Is this field associated with a custom field in your Customer table?

If not, you should create a field to hold this data in order to display it where needed.

If so, double-check to ensure that a value is actually being saved and stored in that table's custom field. You can do this by using the Retrieve Value From Table action then displaying the action result using the Show Message action.
