 Is there a way to customize the customer screen so that the company name shows up first in bold rather than the contact?

What you would have to do is change the SQL override in the CustomerList screen.  Edit the grid and click advanced for the Contact/Customer/Company field.  Simply reverse Name and CompanyName in the SQL Override.

Am I going into Customize: Screens: CRM_Customer List to do this? I don't see advanced options anywhere.

Sorry I should have added that you'll have to click edit on the Contacts grid.  It'll be on step 2 of the wizard.

I am watching the webinar for customizing. Is only a "copied or newly created" screen, table or field editable? I think that's where it is losing me.

Yes, you can only edit a copied or new screen.  You cannot alter our stock screens.  So you'd have to copy the CustomerList screen and edit the copy.  Then you can make your changes.  I'd also suggest you watch the webinar on screens if you haven't already.  In it they will talk about replacing tab links.  You'll need to understand how to do that when your screen is ready to deploy.  

To edit the screen, click Edit on the right side of the screen in Customize > Edit.  You can also use the View to see how the screen looks.
