    Personalizing Dashboards

    Where can I find information or webinar on personalizing the Dashboard? When I do a search it says nothing found.

    Hi Beth,

    We don't have a webinar specified to customizing the Home Dashboard but here's a blog post which will certainly help you out. You can find the names of the specific charts by making a copy of the CRM_Home Dashboard screen then editing it, then edit each Report Object and check which report is selected. For example, on the Home Dashboard screen the Pipeline: Opportunities by Month shows the CRM_Home Dashboard_OppByMonth report.

    This is way to complicated to use from a customizers perspective. Especially coming from a Salesforce demo where you drag and drop the charts and graphs onto your dashboard to personalize the reports. Also, when I click on the "click here" link you gave me for help on a report based on the Invoice table I get an error message. There are way to many variables and no clear understanding of what the fields/charts/objects mean or accomplish for our sales reps to be able to customize their dashboards they way they would like to see them.

    Beth - I can understand where you are coming from on this and we hear you. The charts and reports are not the easiest things to customize, especially if you don't have prior experience using our report designer. These dashboards were not meant for "on the fly" changes but we are taking this into consideration for our new version of our designer scheduled to be released in 2013.

    It can be a little overwhelming at first but if you need further assistance you can always speak with an in-house Consultant or Method Solution Provider for either a training session or to do the customization work for you. Not sure why you're receiving an error when clicking that particular link, it should initiate a video file download. This is probably a restriction with your browser or network settings as I had no problems downloading the file. We don't have any detailed documentation for the Report Designer but there are information documents regarding customization which you can review, such as learning about the Method Design Screen and detailed information about Actions and Objects. Our Documents and Help Centre Articles are very useful resources at your disposal.

    Thanks to both of you for your links. I have been doing the tutorial for the report design and I am understanding it better now. However.. :) after I create the report and the tutorial goes back to Method on the Customer screen - it looks nothing like the customer screen in method, so I am lost as to where he is going to activate the report.

    I'm assuming you followed along with the tutorial and created a copy of the CRM_CustomerList screen then edited it to include a button with the Generate Report action in it correct? If so then go to Customize > Screens, hover over the screen you customized which will have it's name bolded, then click the View button on the left of the screen name. From here you'll see the Customer List screen and you will be able to click your button.
