    Drag/Drop Fields into Customization Screen

I am a new user and am not certain I am on the right path.  What I want to do is create a checkbox field for each contact specifically as a yes/no for newsletter subscriber.  There may be multiple contacts per lead/customer that I want to be able to differentiate this between so I don't want the checkbox itself tied strictly to the main lead or customer company.

I had added this field in Contacts Table and it does show up when I go in and try to edit a copy of my "CRM_EditLeads" screen but when I get to that point I am having additional troubles.

I've created the new checkbox field in the contacts Table that I want to add to my CRM_EditLeads screen.  After copying the screen and going to the editing tool, the field I created is in the list of available fields but when I go to drag it into a new spot it when I release the mouse over the desired box it does not go in and goes back to the list.  I even tried creating a new row and a new section just to see if I could get it to go into the editing screen but with no luck.

Essentially then I am adding the checkbox column to my Contacts Grid under each lead/customer so that I can quick reference if they are a newsletter subscriber while on the phone with them.

Am I editing the right table/screens for what I want to do?

    Thanks,

    Jon

    Hi Jon,

Welcome to Method! I'm impressed with how quickly you picked up on the customization aspect of the CRM, great work. What you're doing is perfectly correct, however I'm not sure why the field is jumping back to the main list when you try adding it to the screen, it should work. Are you by any chance using Windows 8 and Internet Explorer 10? Have you tried a different browser? If so give that a shot and let us know what happens.

I am using both.  Have these been presenting any issues for other users?  I'll try it utilizing a different browser and see what happens.

Yeah I heard of one user experiencing something similar on Windows 8 while using Internet Explorer 10. However, using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox works fine.

    Chrome works much better.  Thanks.

Now I have made my edit to the CRM_Contacts screen to add the checkbox right under the Billing and Marketing opt out check boxes.  I see under "view" that it is where I want it but when I go to a lead and select Edit Contact the checkbox is not in there.  I also added the checkbox to the Contacts grid and enabled editing from the grid as well but it does not save the check when I check it and hit save.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Jon

I figured out the on grid editing however I still don't believe I am actually changing that field from the Contacts table itself.  Let me know if you think I'm not understanding the layout of the tables and where the fields pull info from but the "Edit Contact" pop up screen under the "Edit Leads" link in Leads tab does not have my clickbox field that I added to the Contacts table this morning.

What screen should I edit so that I can get that clickbox to associate with each individual contact under any lead or customer?  The contacts table and Customer/Lead table are different tables correct?

    Thanks

    Jon

    Answer

When you first copied the screen you should have selected Replace links to an existing screen on Step 3 of 3. That's most likely why the option is not showing up when editing a contact. In order to get around this you can create a copy of your customized screen and do what I mentioned, remember to replace the original screen: CRM_Contacts.

Yes the Contacts and Customer tables are different tables.
