    Screen copying and replacing links

I'm looking for some advice on best practices for copying screens, developing and then putting changes live by copying a second time and replacing links.

    My thoughts were...

    1. Copy an original screen (call it 'Original Screen') without replacing any links.
    2. Call my copied screen 'Original Screen_Temp'.
    3. Work on modifying this temp screen.
    4. To release the new screen copy my 'Original Screen_Temp' calling it 'Original Screen_New' and  replace the links for 'Original Screen'.

Using this methodology would all links into the original screen be replaced (tabs, buttons and hyperlinks).

Re: Screen copying and replacing links

Just a quick addition to the above. The reason I ask is because I've copied the 'FieldServices_AddEditWorkOrder' screen and made a number of changes over a few days. I wanted to release those changes so copied my screen again but chose to replace the links for the original screen.

I noticed that the 'Add New' buttons from the 'FieldServices_Calendar' and 'FieldServices_WorkOrderList' still link to the original screen. Is this because the 'FieldServices_AddEditWorkOrder' screen is a pop-up.

    Answer

    Andy,

Your process is correct.  There is an issue with this as I was able to replicate it on my account.  I'll put this in with the team and update you when its fixed.

I had the same problem over the last few days.  Rerplacing screens etc suddenly started breakinmy pop up links and even some tab links.  I was able t fix most of it manually but wondering why this started happening as never had a problem with it before.
