Was there any message with Method PUSH when you were syncing? I've seen this once before, but this was on a server environment. Can you tell me a bit about the computer Method is being installed on? Have you checked firewall settings, network settings? Perhaps there is something in the network or firewall preventing Method from establishing a connection.
