    exporting contacts

So wanting to export all our contacts that are synced with QB's into excel so I can merge our other database into Method, using import. We currently have over 11,000 contacts in QB's but when I use the export function in customize it only exports about 4,300 contacts. Is there a limit to how much I can export or am i missing something? I have already created new fields in contacts table that I will be importing the data from other database into, I just need to check for the same contacts in QB's and our other database so they merge correctly.

    Answer

    Hi Ben-

Yes, there is a limit to how much data you can export at one time., based on a maximum of 1 million cells.  If you are using the Import/Export function under Customize - Integration Tools, it will show you how many records will be included in the export.  The more fields you include from a table, the fewer records can be exported at one time.  You can export more records by selecting fewer fields for each record.  The default is to export all fields from a table, but it sounds like you might only need a few key data points to find a match, so you should be able to deselect some and increase the number o frecords you can export.

    Hope this helps!

    Answer

Thanks Mary for the suggestions! Ben - Mary is correct in that there is an exporting limit of 1 million cells. The reason we have to throttle this feature is because if someone performed a massive export it could slow down the servers and therefore affect the experience of all other users.

If you need to export a file with over 1 million cells you can do it in batches. If you click into the Advanced Filter Options you can cut up your export with the Filter with RecordID greater than option. Remember - the more fields you select in the export, the less records you can have in a single export. As you select and deselect fields the number at the bottom of the screen stating how many records you can export will automatically update. Hope this helps!
