    Hi dottie,

Can you please give me a little bit more detail of the problem you're experiencing? Is job number a customized field? How and when is the calculation triggered? Can you give me a screenshot of the actions you are using? It's possible that the action set is referencing a field or table that exists in the old account but not in the new account.

It is a customized field created in quickbooks and it is customized in method. Retrieves record id from table >0 and adds +1 with basic math from last record ID. This screen was recently imported from another company account. Not sure if this also effects why this is happening.

    Answer

    Hi dottie,

You'll need to dive into the screen designer by editing the screen and take a look at your customized actions to find the problem. What triggers the job number to be generated? Is it a Save button? You'll find the actions that create the job number in the button that triggers it. You should find a Basic Math Calculation action that will first create an action result. You should then find a Update Field in Table action which places the math calculation action result into your job number field.

Check with whoever customized these actions to see if they are still set up correctly. They may be referencing a field that doesn't exist in the new account and therefore would need some tweakingYou could also compare the actions in your two accounts to see how they are different. I included a couple of screenshots of what the Basic Math Calclulation and the Update Field in Table actions generally would look like. It most likely will look different in your case depending on how this customization works on your account. Update Field: should reference your job number field, in my case I had a field called PlusOneNumber

Re: JOB # BASED OFF RECORD ID +1 REPEATING

I created fields on the new customer screen that when is this a new job is checked there is an action that locates the lastrecordID and adds 1 with the basic math and then enters the number in the job number field. This has been working fine on our other 2 accounts but for this new account that I imported the screens it is not working properly. I am not sure if it is pulling the record id from the customer table or the contacts table and I dont know if that is the issue and how to check that. The correct next job# should be 870 but the job # that populates is 830 which is a big problem because it has been assigned to a job already.

The job numbers should be consecutive and never repeat. I have allowed method user access on all the accounts. Please advise on how I can fix this, even if it requires an alternate customization to acheive this goal.

    Hi dottie,

It might be helpful if you post screenshots of the actions in your 'is this a new job' checkbox object. Have you tried comparing the actions in the account that doesn't work to the actions in the account that does work? Is there a difference?

If you like, I can put you in touch with one of our paid in-house consultants, or you can look into our Method Solution ProvidersLet me know!
