We received this email from a user - 

I cannot find the place where you can choose to enter your own estimate #s instead of having Method auto-fill that field for you. Can you remind me where it is. Right now it is auto-populating with a number and overriding what I have entered.

There is a setting under the Quickbooks>Synchronize tab called Assign Ref Numbers in Method? This setting wil determine if Method or Quickbooks will assign numbers to your transactions. Additionally, in the Customers>Estimates tab, you will see a field called Estimate #. Here you can make your own reference numbers if needed. See my screenshot below.

This worked, but now Method is populating the estimate # field. When we enter the estimate # that we want and hit save, Method is overriding that # that we entered and entering its own #. We then have to reenter the # we want and save again. Is there a way that we can set it up so that neither Method not QuickBooks tries to enter an estimate/ invoice # for us?

I see what you mean. I believe you should be able to make your own reference numbers without them being overwritten. I've replicated the issue on my account so I'm going to look into it to see if it is behaving the way it should or not. I'll update this forum post as soon as I have more information!

I found a work around that you can use in the meantime. When you are creating an estimate, if you select your items and press Update on the grid before manually entering your reference number, then it will not be overwritten by either Quickbooks or Method.
