Dropdown values disappear

    Dropdown values disappear

    I have a screen that was last edited on Aug 21, 2013. It suddenly stopped working today and the problem was due to the values in a drop down box disappearing. Step 4 of 6 for the dropdown was the following:

    Select Table: Customer

    Select Field:

    The "Select Field" value was blank. After I selected the appropriate field (the same one from August) the screen worked again. This screen has not been edited in a long time and has been working correctly until this bug happened. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem. Somehow fields/buttons in screens become corrupted without anyone editing the screen or table.


    Has anyone else experienced this type of behavior with Method or found a safegaurd to prevent this?

    Hi MikeH,

    I have not come across this behaviour before. Does this happen with stock screens or only with customized screens? Is there any kind of pattern in regards to a specific screen, table, or field that it happens on, or does it seem random? If you come across the issue again feel free to reply to this post and our support team can investigate.

    Hi Jason,

    Thanks for your reply. It seems to happen randomly, not related to a specific table/screen/type of field. I have not been able to identify a similar set of circumstances which cause the problem. Do you know if there is a way to log screen changes (possibly exporting screen design in text form to do daily comparisons with the previous day's design)? Knowing which fields were modified in a screen/table and who modified them would be extremely helpful in trying to find the source of this problem.

    I forgot to mention that we are using customized screens and some custom Method tables (not in QB).

    Hi Mike, 

    If you right click the screen designer, you will see an option to Show Summary. This will give you a summary of the screen. Unfortunately, there is no other way to log screen changes. This is an interesting feature though that I will submit to the team to consider adding in the future!
