Changing Sales Rep IDs for Customers and Leads

I exported 2 columns from the "Customer and Customer Lead" selection in the export dropdown: "Record ID" and "SalesRep".

I changed a group of sales rep IDs (eg. "AF" and "SW" to "SL") and then imported it back into Method.

Everything seemed fine at the time, but the next day, presumably after a full sync, many of the accounts reverted back to the old sales rep IDs (many of which had the "Main Account" subaccount name that we had designated).

This has been a persistent issue over time that I would love to see resolved.

Do I need to use another table, like Entity? Or do the Customer and Lead options tables separately?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks.

    Hello Mike,

The Customer table holds both customer and leads.  It is a parent of the Entity table which means if you update the Sales Rep in the Customer table, it will update the Sales Rep in the Entity table for the respected customer.  The Sales Rep is for the customer and not the individual contacts.

Here is what I did to test it out.  I exported the 'Customers and CustomerLead' table with the RecordID and SalesRep fields. (You don't need the SalesRep_RecordID field but you may add a third field to tell records apart).  I made my changes to the SalesRep field (and if I have a third field I now delete it) and saved the .CSV file.  I do a normal import update and it changes the SalesRep.

This sounds like a case we can take a look at on Method support.  It's hard to tell what is going on with those records without taking a closer look.  Are there conflicts in the resolve conflicts list?  What do you mean here

. Do you mean job of customers? ie. parent and child companies.

I did exactly what you did. More than once in fact (on consecutive days).

This has been going on for years and is a serious hindrance. I'm changing the rejected rep IDs manually because I can't affort to wait. Although there's no guarantee that the changes will take. I'll let you know.

Either way, if you'd like to investigate, I'd welcome it.

    Thanks

    Greg

I  was under impression that Sales Reps could only be updated in QB. As per the Sales Rep screeen:

Due to a limitation of the QuickBooks Software Development Kit, you are only able to create new Sales Reps through Method. If you'd like to edit or delete a Sales Rep, you'll need to do this in QuickBooks.

    Hello Fran,

While that is true, we are updating the Customer table and not the SalesRep table.  In this update, we are changing the customer - sales rep relationship (1 to many relationship I do believe) and not any information on the sales rep side.  The only thing I don't know is what happens if you import an incorrect Sales Rep/initials.  I figure it must give an error.
