Method report designer will not start

    Method report designer will not start

    Hi there,

    Are there any minimum system requirements for the Report Designer? When I try to start it up is says, "Application cannot be started.  Contact the application vendor."  Windows XP Professional.

    Further details say:

    * Activation of C:\Documents and Settings\Alex\My Documents\Downloads\MethodReportDesigner.application resulted in exception. Following failure messages were detected:
    + Failed to load the runtime. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131700)

    * [10/8/2014 9:24:33 PM] : Activation of C:\Documents and Settings\Alex\My Documents\Downloads\MethodReportDesigner.application has started.
    * [10/8/2014 9:24:35 PM] : Processing of deployment manifest has successfully completed.
    * [10/8/2014 9:24:35 PM] : Installation of the application has started.
    * [10/8/2014 9:24:36 PM] : Processing of application manifest has successfully completed.
    * [10/8/2014 9:24:37 PM] : Found compatible runtime version 2.0.50727.

    Following errors were detected during this operation.
    * [10/8/2014 9:24:37 PM] System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException
    - Failed to load the runtime. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131700)
    - Source: System.Deployment

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello Alex,

    Here's my answer. 

    With the error you mentioned above it seems like it is coming because of the .Net Framework. I looked for that error on google and i found out an article suggesting that make sure you are using the most recent version of the .NET Framework which is relevant for our report designer. This was just one possible resolutions but an important one which might help you. if that doesn't help, I would also check software firewalls, hardware firewalls, and anti-virus. It could just be that the Method Report Designer needs to be allowed to "talk" to the internet on the computer. If you continue to have the problem please let us know or call in for support 1-888-925-6238 option 2.
