    Web form question

When a person fills out the webform, is the data they put into it emailed to Method, or is it entered directly into Method?

I ask because if our email server goes wonky, I don't want to lose that data.

Also - any suggestions on how to add a spam filter or honeypot to the form?

    Thank you!

    Answer

    Hello Meghan,

Here's is my answer. When a person fills out a webform, it is directly entered into Method. Your potential customers will fill out the webform on your website and it will automatically insert them into Method CRM as lead, creat a opportunity and follo-up-reminder. You can also visit our helpcenter for article on Webform.

Thank you, Inder.  Can you answer one more question for me?

What happens with Method is down?  Do the web entries go missing?  Does the person entering the form get an error message?  Is the information stored some place temporarily?

    Thank you,
    Meghan

    Re: Web form question

    Hello Meghan,

If there is an issue with the web form, the system will send you an email.  The email will have information on what went wrong and have info from the form.  There wouldn't be a situation where Method would be down and the information is lost.  The information is not stored somewhere temporarily.  It is a one-time post to the Method servers from the web form.  It either faiils and gives you an email message or is successful and goes into Method.  Users would get an error message if there is an issue on their end and/or network.  Web Forms do have validation to ensure that users put in information that can be accepted into Method.

Thank you, Greg... this is very helpful.

Can you let me know what happens if a person who is already a client fills out the form?  Or if their name matches a current client in our system?

    Thank you!

    Re: Web form question

    Hello Meghan,

The Method system will always create a unique Lead Name (ie. Name) for the submission.  So if John Doe was in your system and had a Lead Name of John Doe and he submits another form, he will come up as a second lead in the system with Lead Name of John Doe(2).  Leads are on the customer table and the Name field (relabeled as Lead Name for Leads) is always unique.  The submissions will not be blocked.

    Re: Web form question

    Greg,

Thank you for your patience and explanations.  In my experience, Method (or at least Quickbooks) does not accept 2 customers with the same email address.  When someone inputs a contact through our web form and uses their email address, will Method still accept this contact with the identical email as the contact that's already in use?
