    Estimate Line columns refreshing wrong

My client would like to use the columns in the estimate line grid.

Item, Description, Qty, Qty On H, Rate/Cost, %, Markup, Amount/Price, Tot. Amt

I have changed the original actions to treat cost as cost becuase they really want to markup from purchase cost. I've changed the actions to treat Amount as Price because they want the price to show up on the screen and the print out.

I have the Tot. Amt auto calculating to be the Amount/Price x the Qty. Simple.

I click the update grid button and it looks like it all saves. If I preview the estimate, the Tot. Amt is equal to the Amount/Price. So when I try to figure out what is going on, I click the refresh grid button.

This button changes the Tot. Amt to equal the Amount!

It should NOT do that. Why is it doing that?

    Answer

    Hi Lance,

As per my response to your other, related post located here, the TotalAmount field is actually used for totalling all amounts of items that belong to a group. Upon clicking the Update link in the grid, the grid is saved and refreshed, totalling the amount of all sub-items and inserting that value into the TotalAmounfield. In your case, the value located in the Amount field is simply repeated since there are no sub-items to tally (assuming you're using a non-group item).

    Hope this helps.
