    Activity email issues

    Many times this has happened.  I go to click on the activity I have scheduled.  It has the correct contact name connected to the activity.  Sometimes when I click on email, another person from the same company's email pops up instead of the contact I have selected.  I think this is a glitch.  Please help.

    Hi pookiefeb

    I just have a quick few questions for you. Is this for a custom activity screen or the stock screen? How often does it happen? Is there anything in particular you do differently for this to happen? 


    I did find that when you change the contact on an activity with 'Send an Email' checked and the new contact doesn't have an email address it doesn't get changed. I don't think this is the issue you are talking about however?

    It is in the stock screen.  And it seems like it happens when for example: I completed an activity with Bob with Company A.  And then I click on schedule next activity with Sam with Company A.  It defaults the email back to Bob's.  They both have email addresses.  I feel that the person you have chosen to contact next should have their email address.  It defaults to the previous contact.

    Hi Pookiefeb,

    It appears that this was a design decision that was made when the screen was created. This can be changed with some simple customization to the CRM_NewActivity screen. The value for the follow-up activity EmailTo is set when the Save button is selected using an Insert Records Into Table action. You can simply remove the EmailTo field from this action and the To field will be filled with the correct email when editing your follow-up. I highlighted the button, action and fields below. I hope this helps.

    I can't find where it says insert records into table.  53 on my screen says send email.

    Hi Pookiefeb,

    Make sure that you are editing the Save button in the Add / Edit Activity section of the screen. When we spoke on the phone, I noticed that this screen on your account had already been customized. If any actions have been removed or added to the save button, the numbers will not match up. Look for the action description ‘Insert the follow-up activity’.

    I found it and deleted the emailto.  Is that all I need to do?

    Hi, 

    I did all of the steps last week.  I just went to email a customer in an activity and it did the same thing and pulled up the previous person.  Whatever I did didnt' work.

    Hi Pookiefeb,

    I just went through this again on my test account to verify that this works and it does. You must either be editing the wrong action, removing the incorrect field or your customization to the screen is preventing this fix from working. If you really need this to work, I suggest you copy the stock screen and replace your current new activity screen with the copy. You can then follow the steps I provided and the screen will function the way you desire.

    FYI: You can check the name of the screen that is currently in use by hovering your cursor over the link.
