I was updating my contacts from the retreat and trying to use the linkedin fields.

I tried adding Barb but when I click the linked in link from the contact I get a message that the profile is not found. Had the same problem with Carrie.

I tried Michael with no issues. I noted a different URL for Michael than the others.

Michael = ca.linkedin.com/in/michaelmelo

Barb = ca.linkedin.com/pub/barb-anderson/2/b43/366

any contact that has ca.linkedin.com/pub/ instead of ca.linkedin.com/in/ doesn't seem to open from the contact in Method.

Any ideas?

Hi Mahlon,

It looks like it only accepts URLs of regular LinkedIn profile pages. The /pub/ URLs are public pages. You should be able to get regular URLs if you have added the contact to your LinkedIn network.

It turns out that when a user signs up for a LinkedIn account, their profile URL is automatically generated in the format http://www.linkedin.com/pub/name/n/nnn/nnn. Users then have the option of creating a more meaningful URL in the format http://www.linkedin.com/in/username, specifying an available username as they see fit.

It looks like currently, our LinkedIn field is set up take the custom username that LinkedIn users can obtain and navigate to their profile based on that. It also seems to handle full URLs for user profiles with a custom username, with the exception of the http:// bit (so www.linkedin.com/in/username will also work, for example). It doesn't seem that it's set up to handle the old /pub/ URLs.

I'll put a feature request in for this and keep you updated through this thread.
