How to...Export Marketing List?

    How to...Export Marketing List?

    I am looking for a way to export a list that can be used in a mail merge. I need the company information and the mail contact (if there is one).  something simple with name, address, city, state, zip and the ability to sort but custom fields (industry/marketing period/etc) would be great.

    is there a way to create a saved report or export?

    the custom report seems limited in what i can pull and only generates to PDF.

    the export function doesn't appear to have a "save as" function and i would prefer not to have to rewrite it every time.

    Hi mholden,

    It sounds like you could use the Import/Export Tool to do this. You can find it under Customize > Integration Tools in Method. You'll likely want to export your Customer table to a CSV file, which is easily sortable in Excel.

    that would help if i could save the export.  it is something i am going to want to do an a regular basis and would prefer not to have to recreate the export every time.

    example.  i created a Marketing Period field (1,2 or 3) and will want to pull the #1 list in January, April, July and October.  #2 would be February, May, etc....


    if i could save the search with a filter criteria (MarketingPeriod = 1) then i would just need to run this every month without having to choose all the fields i want, over and over and over again.


    is that not possible?

    Hi mholden,

    You should be able to do this using a grid and the Export Grid to Excel action. You'll want to create a custom screen containing a grid with the information you want in it, then use the action to export that grid to Excel.

    almost there!  :)

    i made the custom grid but now have the following two "how to" questions to complete this:

    1. i only want to see "Main" contacts, I'm not sure what the criteria is and how to set this filter.

    2. i do not see the action to export to grid.  is this something i need to create and add to the screen? or am i just missing seeing it?

    Hi mholden,

    There's a few ways you can get the "main" contact:

    1. Attach your grid to the Customer table, it only contains the main contact's info
    2. Attach your grid to the Contacts table, then filter it to only show records with field SpecialType equal to "Contact"

    The action you're looking for is called Export Grid to Excel, you can find it in the Action List under ".: GRID :.". See below:
