MIE error - Insufficient permission level to perform this action

What does the following Quickbooks sync error?  This week I had to change to using another full rights user to login to Quickbooks on the MIE machine.  I have rebooted a couple times.  I did a rebuild at noon on 2/4/2015.   How can I determine what permissions are missing?  In QB, the new user login appears to have the same rights as the previous user.  Oh wait something else comes to mind.  The previous user we had been logging into QB on the sync engine was renamed so it no longer exists.  Where in MIE or Method does it store/cache the name of the user currently logged into QB?  Does MIE use that username for anything?

There was an issue with the sync. Try doing a File > Utilities > Verifiy and Rebuild in QuickBooks, and trying again. Also, make sure QuickBooks has all updates installed. If this persists, contact technical support.
Now for the technical stuff! QuickBooks SDK response was: Insufficient permission level to perform this action.
    The request was: <?xml version="1.0" ?> <?qbxml version="13.0"?> <QBXML> <QBXMLMsgsRq onError = "stopOnError"> <TimeTrackingQueryRq requestID = "0"> <ModifiedDateRangeFilter><FromModifiedDate>2015-02-06T08:28:02-05:00</FromModifiedDate></ModifiedDateRangeFilter> <IncludeRetElement>TxnID</IncludeRetElement> <IncludeRetElement>TimeModified</IncludeRetElement> <IncludeRetElement>TxnDate</IncludeRetElement> </TimeTrackingQueryRq> </QBXMLMsgsRq> </QBXML>
    The response was: <?xml version="1.0" ?> <QBXML> <QBXMLMsgsRs> <TimeTrackingQueryRs requestID="0" statusCode="3260" statusSeverity="Error" statusMessage="Insufficient permission level to perform this action." /> </QBXMLMsgsRs> </QBXML>

Thanks for a quick response by Jeff at Method, this has been resolved.  To fix this: go into single user mode in QB, login as Admin, go to Edit > Preferences > Integrated Applications > Company Preferences.  Edit each of the Method items in the Preferences list and select Admin as the automatic username in the login option.  Then switch back to multi-usermode and login as the normal QB user (if you don't use the Admin login on the MIE machine).  Case closed!  I am no long getting this error.  Thanks Jeff!!

    Justin,

Actually I spoke too soon.  I am still getting this error in Resolve Conflicts.  I have tried to delete, clear, retry, refetch and it comes back everytime.  I rebuilt the QB db 2/4.  The error is from 1/29 when it first said to rebuild QB.  I changed the MIE login to Admin hoping that would fix this.  No dice.  What now?  I am going to reboot the QB box again today to see if that helps.

    Thanks!

Yes, this is still unresolved.  I've tried everything.  Let's work on this next Monday, 3/16/2015, please.

Re: MIE error - Insufficient permission level to perform this action

For almost a year since we started using Method, we have used a QB user other than admin for the quickbook login and MIE worked great.  Now I'm told the qb login should only be the admin user for us to avoid this time tracking error we had.

    Answer

    Hi Robert,

You could try experimenting with different Roles in QuickBooks to see if any of them allow you to sync TimeTracking on a non-master-admin user.

Re: MIE error - Insufficient permission level to perform this action

The user syncing doesn't have access to the Trial Balance. When you sync with QuickBooks open, the permissions for the user logged into QuickBooks are used. When you sync with QuickBooks closed, the permissions for the user listed in QuickBooks Integrated Application preferences are used.

Solution to QuickBooks Status Code 3260

If you are syncing with QuickBooks closed:

    1. Open QuickBooks (QB) as the QB Admin with QB in Single User Mode
    2. Go to Edit >Preferences >Integrated Applications >Company Preferences
    3. Select Bill.com and click Properties
    4. Select "Admin" In the Login As field under Allow Access, so that the sync will run with these permissions or "Allow this application to read and modify this company file" depending on your QB version

If you are syncing with QB open, close QB and then sync with it closed, so that the "Login As" user permissions (Admin) are used.
