Customized Portal Screens Won't Update

    Customized Portal Screens Won't Update

    I have been working to customize our Contacts portal screens. However, it seems that when I make a change and publish the screen, the changes are not updated online and the old screen is still shown without any of the functionality I have customized.

    What the heck! This is so frustrating...

    What do I need to do to get these published screens to update. I have cleared the browser cache, I have restarted the browser. I have tried a different browser... I have signed-out and back in... Why isn't this working!

    Hi pdx971,

    Head over to Customize > Tabs in Method and click Edit Tab Links... for the Contacts Portal tab. Is your custom screen the one listed here under its associated tablink?

    Hi Justin,

    Yes, all the links are updated correctly. It's almost like there is a delay, as if there is a cron job running every so often to update the screens for contacts. If I walk away from it for a period of time and then come back, it will be updated. But the changes I make to the screen are not visible immediately after publishing.

    If I am editing a standard non portal screen, they update immediately.

    Hi Chris,

    Have you tried right-clicking on the screen and clicking Reload screen? What about right-clicking on the tablink bar and choosing to refresh the page? Which browser are you using?

    When a someone logs into the Contacts Portal, the screens are not updated live, rather it appears they are updated using some type of cron process every 5 to 10 miunutes. This certainly makes it hard to develop, as you don't see the changes you made right away. I though things weren't working initially because of the delay.

    Right clicking, loggin in/out, and refreshng the browser has not effect. You must wait until the cron job updates the screens...

    Greetings,

    This is what I do when this event happens.  Using Chrome

    1. Remove that screen from tabs. 

    2. Log out of method

    3. Log back into method. Go to customize of that screen, republish. save and close.

    4. Log back out.

    5. Log back in, insert that screen back into tabs. 

    6. Log out. 

    7. Log back in, screen should work.  

    I have had this issue with mobile screens. By doing the above it has worked for me.
