Reporter Generator to produce report for customers by Service Date

I own a small newspaper that requires us to put in our ads and listings per customer quarterly.   We need to know how to link the Customer/Customer Lead table to the Invoice Line table, and format it correctly so we can filter by service date and see which kinds of ads and for what customers need to be published.

    The report should include:

    Customer (Company) Name

    Service Date

    Item

Any suggestions?  We are having trouble with the filters and basically making it work.

    Thank you!

    Hi Douglas,

Sorry for the late reply, this one slipped by me. For the report you're describing, you shouldn't have to link the Customer table to the InvoiceLine table. You should be able to access all the fields you need by using the Invoice table as the Master table for the report, and the InvoiceLine table as a Detail table.

Once you have the report designed, you can filter it using the "Filter Report" section of the Generate Report action. You'd probably want to create a custom screen in Method with a DatePicker object, then use the value selected in that DatePicker to filter your report.

    Hope this helps.

Hi Justin.  I created the report with the tables you re commended, but when I preview it, only our company information is repeated over and over.  Not sure why.

Also, I'm not sure where the generate report action is.  Not sure why I'm having so much trouble, I used to be a quality control analyst for Ingenix (United Healthcare's IT company).  But for some reason this is throwing  me.

    Hi Douglas,

Have you taken a look at our Report Designer video tutorials? They're a good starting point if you haven't dealt with Report Designer much. It's a fairly robust program, so it's not surprising if you don't know how to use it right off the bat.

The Generate Report action is an action in Method (not in Report Designer), that you can use on a screen (usually by clicking a button) to generate a report. We have a Help Center article about it here.

If this is something you don't wish to undertake yourself, or don't have the time to, you could always hire a member of our Professional Services team to do the customization for you. Let me know if that's the route you'd like to take and I'll have your account manager reach out to discuss.

    Hope this helps.
