ERROR: One or more fields referenced by your actions were not found on the screen. Please make sure all actions specify a valid object on the screen and republish. If the problem continues, please contact an administrator.

I get the above error on a customized screen.

Where do I begin to troubleshoot the source of the error.

I am surprised that the error message does not list some failure points.

I tried putting some decison messages in the advanced and onload actions to find the actions causing the errors, but the load process did not stop and give me the decision messages.

BTW - I am hiding some sections on the open, could that be the source of the error. I tried disabling the hide actions or moving the position in the stack, it did not seem to matter.

You'll want to look in the list of actions for whichever event is triggered to cause the error message (whichever button is pressed, etc.) If it happens when the screen loads, check the onScreenLoad event of the screen (found in the Advanced screen properties).

Once you've located the action set, you can try putting smaller portions of it within conditional statements that will never execute. That way you can narrow down where the issue is, and will know which actions in specific to focus in on.

Hidden sections shouldn't cause any problems, they should be available for use within your actions.

i bypassed thr entire screen load routine in the advanced screen properties. Same result.

I am now goning through each field and button looking for bad references. So far I do not see anything out of place.

It seems to me that I made the captions on the screen for a few bill to and ship to fields identical  by eliiminating some leading spaces (city, state, zip, country).

After putting "bill to" and "ship to" in front of the respective captions, the issue seems to have been resolved.
