    Report Designer Error

    Hello Again Method!

I received a very weird error when I tried to open a Report that has a chart in it. When I tried to open the reoprt, this error was generated.

Also when I was making the graph, I would get the same error, but it works in Method. It's a bar graph with two columns. Both are date driven with the sum of the amounts of our job items. It lets me choose the sum function for one of the graphs, but then gives this error for the second series.

    Thanks,

    James

    Hey James,

Can you email me or direct message me your account name and also be sure to have MethodSupport turned on for that account so I can take a look? I wasn't able to replicate your issue.

    Hey James,

is the report simple to reproduce? Are you able to give me steps to replicate the report so I can investigate that error?

    Re: Report Designer Error

The Master table i'm trying to make the chart for is ActivityJobItems. The goal is to sum up the amount of each job item. The arguements for each series is a date, the ExpectedInstallDate and the InvoiceTxnDate.

There is two series. The value sum, under point options for both is set to currency. For the Data, the arguement scale type is set to date and time for both.

Series one has the arguement set as Activity.JobItems.ExpectedInstallDate. The value scale type is DateTime, the binding mode is summary function. The summary function is SUM([ActivityJobItems.Amount)] I get the two errors as follows when I try to do this.

    The first one is this.

If I click cancel, im taken back to the data screen:

Series two has the arguement set as ActivityJobItems.InvoiceTxnDate. The value scale type is DateTime, the binding mode is summary function. The summary function is SUM([ActivityJobItems.Amount)]

Same thing happens when I try for series two. Am I doing something wrong when i'm setting up my arguements or scale value types. Some of the job items don't have date/times populated in the fields. Does the report designer crash when there is null values included, or can you exclude null values? If I save the report after going through the hassle of trying multiple things, it will work in method. But as stated above I cannot open the report to edit it. Im left with the error

Thanks. Please let me know what you think

    Re: Report Designer Error

    Hey James,

I have tried to recreate the chart and I have not been able to duplicate the error(Object must be of DateTime) you were getting. When you put your cursor over the red x when you are looking at agrument properties, what message does it give you? Is it the same error message you were getting in the pop up? I tried to to use a non date/time field for the argument and was still not able to duplicate your error.

I have a feeling it could be because of your null values as you said however it will be very difficult your end of things over the forums like this. Our consultants can investigate your issue to see if its a bug with Method or if its an issue with your report/data. If the issue is found to be a bug with Method then you will not be charged for the consultant's time.
