I see both apis for update and delete file. Is there a way to retrieve a file that is already in Quickbooks?

Can you be more specific around which table & field you are retrieving from?  Are you referring to an actual 'File' (e.g. a document) or a 'record' (e.g. a customer record in the customer table).

I am referring to an actaul file. This is more of a general question: what api can I use to retrieve a file.

• MethodAPISelect_DatasetV2
• MethodAPISelect_XMLV2

I attached a file to SalesOrder in quickbooks. What field can I use MethodAPISelect_XMLV2 on to retreive this file?

File attachements do not synchronize between QuickBooks Desktop and Method, this is a limitation with the current QuickBooks SDK integration.

If you are in need of accessing QuickBooks files, there are third party products avaialble (such as SmartVault) that integrate with QuickBooks.  SmartValut allows you to store documents in the cloud and relate them to QuickBooks entities and transactions.  Method has an integration with SmartValut as well.
