InvoiceLineItem is created, however, Invoice is not or gone

    InvoiceLineItem is created, however, Invoice is not or gone

    Hi,

    Recently, I keep experience a random issue,  in my "customize" invoice screen, which I tweaked from default invoice screen. The issue is, the invoice line items are created and can be found in database, however, their invoice is not created or gone, I can not found this invoice in database. After adding some logic to check if Invoice is created sucessfully, (that is to check if RecordID is greater than 0,) the logic actually passed, which means the invoice record is created and RecordID is returned. However, it is not found in Invoice table. What we did is pretty the same as default invoice screen, just add some actions to update our own database tables. 

    Is there anything I should watch in my actions? The same issue also happened while creating Bill and Bill items. Is it possible something about QuickBooks desktop synchronization engine? We turn on Method synchronization engine all the time to keep sync with our Windows QBs 2016.

    Hi Alex,

    Just some thoughts....I know you know your way around Mehod,.....Are you checking for RecordID in the invoice line table or checking for INVOICERecordID? I would export the Invoice table and invoice line table and check ID's.

    The problem is Invoice RecordID is saved in a shared result, when it is used to create invoice line item, something went wrong randomly. If I save the Invoice RecordID in a text box, and use from it, it is much stable. I do believe there must be something wrong or limitation in the implementation of Method's "share result".

    Hi Alex,

    Sorry for the slow response here. Also thanks Fran for assisting with this one!

    Alex, you mentioned this is happening randomly, are you able to rereate it reliably? I would be more than happy to test any actions on my end with test accounts and see if theres something wrong with the way Method is handling record creation.

    Just so we're on the same page, these Invoices arent showing up in an Invoice table export? But its corresponding Line items Are showing up in an InvoiceLine export?

    Hi Ben,

    I cannot narrow down this case and generate this error constantly. It just happened from time to time. Talked to Method tech support, they told me to stick with Chrome browser, use Incongito mode, use text box instead of shared result, or says that may be caused by unstable network. Tried all these, but still no way to solve it totally.

    Again, Invoice Line Item are created, however "Invoice RecordID" column is left with blank, you can find the exported invoiceline table for these records. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7ROzfSe38etWlp5ZERZanRRZ00/view?usp=sharing  Or, you can find them in invoiceline item table with recordID (4633 and 4634), but I might need to remove these error or we can not have correct data in QuickBooks.

      I cannot find corresponded Invoice record in the table, I tried to use customer name, amount and date to search the invoice record, but not there.
