Guys - your team must have solved a problem I cannot resolve. Getting the QB COM event handler to register properly on Vista and Win7 machines. UAC must be on, installer must elevate priviledges, user must restart QB, etc, etc..  I have been working with the Intuit SDK support team and other knowledgeable contractors.

Would you consider leveraging your knowledge and doing a custom install app?

Hi Tim - unfortunately we're not a custom dev shop, so we wouldn't be able to take the project on.

One piece of advice, create your com add-in using something old school, like VB6, and have a separate .net app for your operating code.  Don't mess around with the .net wrapper or you'll find yourself wanting to jump off a cliff without a parachute. Also, your add-in should do very little work, like writing to a log file, otherwise you'll create drag.
