Outlook Add-In Error: Failed to Install Cetificate

After saving the add-in the my desktop and beginning to Run for installation, I get a message that reads: "Installing Certificate... Failed to install certificate."  I can't get any further.  Help?

    Nicole-

Is there any more to that error message or is that the full message?

Can you try the following as well:

    1. Open Internet Explorer
    2. Click Tools > Internet Options
    3. Click Security tab.
    4. Click Trusted Sites
    5. Click Sites
    6. Enter https://methodintegration.com in the Add this website to the zone field.
    7. Click Add
    8. Click Close
    9. Click OK
    10. Try again.

Thanks Michael, I did try that sequence from your suggestion in another forum.  Unfortunately, the error still comes up - and that's all it gives me.  I'm not sure if it helps to know that it's written in a command prompt window.

    Answer

    Nicole-

What kind of permissions do you have on that computer? Are you an admin?

Try right-clicking on the install file MethodOutlookAddIn.exe and select Run As Admin.

If you are still having issues email me and we can setup a time for me to connect to your computer and take a look at this issue.

    Hi Mike,

    I have the same problem.

Tried the suggestions you made, but still "Failed to add methodintegration to trusted zone"

Is there anything else to try?

    Hello Ben,

It's hard to say.  This may be a case we need to take a look at on the support line.  You can take a look at any anti-virus or security programs that could be blocking the installation.  Also, you can see if the computer user is allowed to install programs.

In Internet Explorer, what security level have you set for your trusted sites? It can be found when you click on Trusted Sites in IE. Is it higher than Medium?

Re: Outlook Add-In Error: Failed to Install Cetificate

I added methodintegration as a trusted site in IE. The level is set to medium.

The add-in now installs, but does not appear in the toolbar of outlook. This may be due to the fact that the user is a member of a domain, but the administrator is a local administrator of the computer. The domain administrator cannot install on this computer it seems.

When logged in as a local administrator, the plug-in does appear in the tool bar of outlook. But not when logged as a domain user on the same computer. What do you think is a solution ?

    regards Ben

    Hello Ben,

It does look like it is a permissions issue.  The domain user doesn't have enough access to the Outlook plugin or Outlook add-ins.  I'm not familiar with Domain User accounts, but I assume it is a setting that needs to be checked to allow them or the domain administrator to access the Outlook plugin.
